Creativity and Innovation
Technology is being used to think creatively, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products. Example sessions could demonstrate how to:
- apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas and products.
- use technology for creative self-expression.
- use systems thinking to explore complex issues.
- identify trends and forecast possibilities.
Communication and Collaboration
Digital media and virtual environments are being used to communicate and work collaboratively to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others. Example sessions could demonstrate how to:
- collaborate, publish, and interact with peers, experts, and others employing a variety of digital media and formats.
- communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences utilizing a variety of media and formats.
- develop cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with learners of other cultures.
- contribute to project teams to produce original works.
Research and Information Retrieval
Digital Tools are being used to access, retrieve, manage, and evaluate information. Example sessions could demonstrate how to:
- locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and use information from a variety of sources and media.
- evaluate and select information sources and technological tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks.
- process data and report results.
Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving and Decision-Making
Appropriate technology tools are applied to critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems and make informed decisions. Example sessions could demonstrate how to:
- identify and define authentic problems and significant questions for investigation and plan strategies to guide inquiry.
- plan and manage activities to develop solutions and complete projects.
- collect and analyze data to identify solutions and make informed decisions.
- use multiple processes and diverse perspectives to explore alternative solutions.
Digital Citizenship
The focus of this strand is to help participants understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior. Example sessions could demonstrate how to:
- advocate and practice safe, responsible use of information and technology.
- exhibit positive attitudes toward technology uses that support collaboration, learning, and productivity.
- demonstrate personal responsibility for lifelong learning.
- exercise proactive leadership for digital citizenship.
Technology Operations and Concepts
This strand focuses on demonstrating a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. Example sessions could demonstrate how to:
- understand and use technology systems.
- identify and use applications effectively and productively.
- troubleshoot systems and applications.
- transfer current knowledge to learning of new technologies.
When you submit your proposal there is a pull-down menu for you to indicate one of the above strands or not applicable.
Notification and Cancellation
Email notifications will be sent to the Presenter, you are expected to communicate all information to your co-presenter.
Sessions will be placed on the Conference Grid web page.
This Grid is subject to change on a daily basis until the Final version is posted. Please refer to this page often.
If you are unable to present, notice of cancellation must be received by one of the Conference Chairs.
Internet Access
The WSU Metroplex has wireless Internet Access. If you require a "wired" connection please indicate that on the registration form. Every effort will be made to accommodate a "wired" connection request, but not guaranteed.
Equipment and Software
MACE will provide a LCD projector and screen in each room.
Lab computers for Hands-on sessions will be desktop and laptop computers. Macs will be running OS X version 10.4 or later with all updates installed. The next generation of MACE conferences will feature web based applications and activities accessed from any browser. Participants will be required to BYOT (bring your own technology). This creates the opportunity for all participants to have technology in their hands during sessions to facilitate learning.
You will need to provide your own computer.
Additional hardware you may need will be your responsibility.
For Hands-on Sessions you will need to clearly communicate your Software needs with the Conference Chairs. You can do this when filling out the online form. The Conference Chairs will determine installation procedures.
Early arrival to confirm room setup, software and/or hardware, is expected.
You can expect technical support from the MACE staff.
Handouts
If providing paper hand-outs, expect up to 30 per session.
Electronic handouts can be left at the Registration desk or emailed to our Webmaster before the conference. Electronic handouts will be placed on the MACE Moodle Server for downloading.
